Clinical Supervision

What is hypnosis? Hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness that occurs naturally. It is similar to day-dreaming, meditation, guided imagery, biofeedback, and guided relaxation. Clinical hypnosis is essentially day-dreaming with a purpose.

Can I learn to hypnotize myself? All hypnosis is self-hypnosis. As a practitioner, Alice facilitates the trance you choose to enter at her suggestion. You may come out of a hypnotic trance whenever you wish, usually by simply opening your eyes or shifting positions in your seat. Under trance, you will not do or say anything unnatural to you. You are in control. With Alice's help, you can learn to use hypnosis yourself in the comfort of your own home.

What does hypnosis feel like? Hypnosis feels like deep relaxation. It feels like taking time for yourself, for self-soothing and self-nurturing. Milton H. Erickson, the late pioneer of clinical hypnosis, said: "It's concentrating on your own thoughts, values, memories, and beliefs about life."

How can hypnosis help me? Hypnosis can help you discover inner resources. It can help you find that calm, quiet center inside you, to hear your inner voice, the part that knows what is best for you, the wisdom of your heart. It can help you achieve specific personal goals, change self-defeating habits, prepare for anxiety-provoking events, and develop the confidence to be your true self.
